Lamont Ocean Nitrogen Group#
Colette Kelly · Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory · Columbia Climate School
I’m an oceanographer who studies the marine nitrogen cycle, and in particular nitrous oxide (N₂O): a potent greenhouse gas and ozone-depleting substance that the ocean both produces and releases to the atmosphere. My work combines shipboard observations, autonomous floats, and machine learning to map where N₂O is made, how it moves through the ocean interior, and how much escapes across the air-sea interface.
This site is the home base for my research projects, publications, and group. I also collaborate with the McKinley Ocean Carbon Group.
Machine learning for N₂O air-sea fluxes, nitrogen-carbon coupling in oxygen-deficient zones, N₂O production pathways, and pyisotopomer.
